NYU set for first ECHA games in program history!

New York University Violets ice hockey team is set to host a pair of Eastern Collegiate Hockey Association (ECHA) league games this weekend. The games will be the first ECHA league games in NYU Hockey’s prestigious history. 

“The ECHA is very honored and excited to have a program like NYU added to our conference. NYU has always fielded strong teams and is a valued member of our league. The ECHA looks forward to watching the Violets compete for a playoff spot and eventually an AJ Ruth Championship Trophy” said ECHA Commissioner Gregg Marinari. He also added, “Coach Dustin Good runs an excellent program and we look forward to watching the Violets excel under his leadership.”

NYU coach Dustin Good shared the same enthusiasm about join the ECHA and added, "NYU is excited and honored to join the ECHA. The league is a great fit for NYU and NYU Hockey. We look forward to partnering with all ECHA member institutions to support and augment the great work the league has been doing for many years."

NYU will host the US Naval Academy Midshipmen in what should be a battle of 2 playoffs caliber teams. Both teams are coming off weekend splits vs National ranked opponents as the Midshipmen (3-2) split with #15 ranked Pittsburgh and the Violets (1-1) split with arch rival Stoney Brook.

Game times are Friday October 11, 2024 at 9:00 PM and Saturday October 12, 2024 at 6:00 PM. Both games will be hosted at NYU’s home rink – The Sky Rink at Chelsea Pier.
